Purpose:

Students use this laboratory to get familiar with basic electrical measuring instruments, to understand principles of electrical measurements, to learn about printed circuit boards and to manufacture them, to get familiar with digital systems and then to excel in them. Students in this laboratory are introduced to voltmeters, ampermeters and oscilloscopes. They make electrical measurements such as AC and DC voltages and currents. They draw schematic diagrams and simulate simple analog circuits using SPICE and manufacture printed circuit boards. They do soldering, wiring and boxing of their electronic circuits. Also students use this laboratory to understand digital logic and digital electronics. They use bread board kits to build digital circuits and use National Instruments’ data acquisition toolboxes and LabView software to apply digital signals and acquire digital outputs. Furthermore, mostly seniors and graduate students use FPGA kits in this laboratory to implement their very large scale digital systems which were designed using a higher level hardware description language (VHDL).

Telecommunications Laboratory

This laboratory serves “EE479-Telecommunications Laboratory” and “EE-561-Microwaves” courses as well as graduate researches.

It is equipped by PC’s for LabView soft texperiments, Basic measuring instruments, telecommunications and Microwave experiment sets and more advanced test equipments such as Spectrum and Network Analysers, Microwave signal generators and frequency counters, power meters, Noise Figure meters etc. There is a Screened Room (Faraday’s Cage) for low noise measurements.
